Adopting an Oral Hygiene Routine

So in a few months I am going to be finished with Invisalign, at 46/60. My front teeth has always been a little crooked, the front left teeth sticking out a little. Fortunately everything is going to be fine, my teeth are still solid, and it is going to be perfectly aligned.

However, I still haven't developed a decent oral hygiene routine.

  • For most of my life before, I did not brush my teeth in the morning (though I did brush more since I began taking Invisalign)
  • My mouth smells (I haven't kissed anyone yet, but I don't want to be kissing with a terrible breath in the future)

Obviously, I don't want to be like my father, whose teeth are so dirty (yellow and black) that it is just a total mess, and he needs tweezers after each meal for as long as I could remember. His teeth are already falling out and his mouth smells awful. Ok, on top of that he is short-sighted too and can't see the phone with glasses if it's up close now. It's terrible.

Here are the morning/evening routine I am going to adopt for a better oral hygiene. Rumours suggest that instead of brushing 100 times a day or after every meal, brushing twice, before breakfast and before bed, is the best option. So that's chill.

  • Floss, Tongue scraper, Mouthwash
  • Electric toothbrush (Philips Sonicare? I am too bad with a manual toothbrush) Spit, don't rinse
  • Retainers (I need to learn how to properly wash it)
    • Rinse immediately with cool tap water, no hot water/toothpaste
    • Use a soft toothbrush (I am not using manual toothbrushs for my teeth though) to brush it
    • Buy retainer cleaning tablets (again, huge $$$, greedy capitalists) to clean it weekly
  • Also I want to buy sunscreens, and I am apply it on my skins during the morning routine, though I am not sure if that's relevant.
